NARRATIVE SUMMARY


Daily Summary of Events

1 Dec 68:  Flight operations were not hampered by weather or enemy action.  HMM-364  flew 134 sorties for 36.3 flight hours, lifting 264 troops/passengers, 22.9 tons of cargo and expended 900 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  Three medevac missions carried 2 Emergency and 2 Routine evacuees in support of the following Operation and Units:  Meade River, 1st MARDIV, MAG-36, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  One enemy fire incident was reported with no aircraft receiving hits.

2 Dec 68:  HMM-364 flew 102 sorties for 34.7 flight hours, lifting 191 troops/ passengers and 18.1 tons of cargo.  Two medevac missions carried 2 Routine evacuees in support of the following Operations and Units: Meade River, Scotland II, 1st MARDIV, MAG-16, MAG 39 and HMM-364.

3 Dec 68:  HMM-364 flew 77 sorties for 22.9 flight hours, lifting 91 troops/
passengers, 12.8 tons of cargo and expending 175 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  Two medevac missions carried 2 Emergency and 1 Routine evacuees in support of the following Operation and Units:  Meade River, MAG-16, MAG-36 and HMM-364.  One fire incident was reported with no aircraft receiving hits.

4 Dec 68:  The squadron flew 63 sorties for 18.7 flight hours, lifting 50 troops/ passengers and 20.0 tons of cargo.  One medevac mission carried 2 Routine evacuees in support of the following Operation and Units:  Nicollet Bay, 1st MARDIV, MAG-16, MAG-36 and HMM-364.

5 Dec 68:  HMM-364 flew 39 sorties for 15.4 flight hours, lifting 0.2 tons of cargo and 60 and expended 600 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  Three medevac missions carried 11 Routine evacuee in support of the following Operation and Units:  Nicollet Bay, 1st MARDIV, MAG-16, MAG-36 and HMM-364. 

6 Dec 68:  HMM-364 flew 38 sorties for 19.2 flight hours, lifting  1.4 tons of cargo, and 119 troops/passengers and expending 700 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  One medevac mission carried 1 Priority evacuee in support of the following Operation and Units:  Meade River, 1st MARDIV, MAG-16, MAG-36 and HMM-364.

7 Dec 68:  HMM-364 flew 8 sorties for 4.3 flight hours, lifting no cargo or  troops/passengers in support of the following Units:  MAG-36 and HMM-364. 

8 Dec 68:  Hmm-364 flew 48 sorties for 12.2 flight hours, lifting 10.9 tons of cargo, 89 troops/passengers and expending 400 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance, in support of the following Units:  1st MARDIV, MAG-16, MAG-36 and HMM-364.

9 Dec 68:  HMM-364 flew 28 sorties for 12.0 flight hours, lifting 0.4 tons of cargo, 122 troops/passengers and expending 700 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  Two medevac missions carried 35 evacuees in support of following Units: 1st MARDIV, MAG-16, MAG-36 and HMM-364. 

To recap the daily listing, HMM-364 flew 537 sorties for 175.7 flight hours during the period 1-9 December with an average availability of 11 aircraft, lifting 968 troops/passengers and 86.7 tons of cargo.  14 medevac missions evacuated a total of 58 evacuees of which 4 were Emergency, 4 Priority and 50 Routine.  A total of 3,475 rounds of .50 caliber ammunition was expended.
